Even as I write this, a smile is on my face thinking of the fun I had with Adam and the Ruggs Ranch crew. Being in the midst of so many elk in such a pristine setting was something I didn’t think I’d experience again in my lifetime. I was back to the good old days of elk hunting and glad they exist in places like the 85,000-acre Ruggs Ranch.

And did I mention the food? That was an excerpt from a story I wrote for Sports Afield magazine and still rings true today. The lodge and bird hunting was better than I’ve ever experienced, and the wall tent camp was the nicest I’ve been in. And the food, this is the only elk camp I’ve ever experienced where you ate meals prepared by an executive chef.

The number of elk we encountered was something I hadn’t seen for a couple of decades, and they were much calmer than most elk I’ve interacted with. This was truly an enjoyable hunt from start to finish, and the whole Ruggs crew and facilities were top-notch. I hope I can fit another hunt at Ruggs Ranch in my near future.

There were three hunters in our party…

There were three hunters in our party for a cow elk hunt. I want to say that from the minute we stepped on your property, we met Vicky, and she made us feel very welcome.

Everyone we met was extremely polite, friendly, and professional. Our hunting guides were awesome. They were all very professional, and they worked their tails off to try to get everyone an elk.

This was my 4th elk hunt and my first with Ruggs Ranch. I was impressed by how the guides talked to each other and strategized on each and every move. I can’t say thank you enough. We had a great time and truly incredible experience with Ruggs Ranch we won’t soon forget.

We are already planning on coming back. The elk country is breathtaking and beautiful in the fall. The camp cook needs to be congratulated for her outstanding dishes and service. Overall, this was the best hunt I have ever been on.
